Farming Tips

Interested in farming some WoW gold, are you? Whether you’ve just arrived in Azeroth or are a veteran WoW gamer there are some gold farming tips that you should know. You’ll be amazed at how many miss out on these most basic of tips, and soon realize not only how much gold they miss out on, but how much you could be earning every single time you log on.

Here are the 7 most essential gold farming tips every player should (bust most don’t) know:

1. The Auctioneer Addon

“The Auctioneer Addon? A secret tip toward making masses of WoW gold? *rant* *rant* *rant*”

I can hear the cynics now, and they’re right, Auctioneer is no secret – it’s well known by many WoW gamers. But ask them to perform advanced functions within the Auctioneer, the automated wizardry that makes the top gold farmers thousands each day, and all of a sudden they’re not so keen to talk.

Get yourself a copy of Auctioneer (free to download here) and read the supporting material at the website. Mastering this tool, combined with some advanced Auction House strategies, will have you making the easiest WoW gold you could ever imagine.

2. Limited Supply Items

This another common piece of knowledge that is so often overlooked. Limited Supply Items are, surprisingly, items that are sold in limited supply by special vendors across Azeroth. Those wanting these items quickly and conveniently will happily pay a sizeable premium for these items on the AH, rather than trekking to a vendor themselves.

See the further reading below for how to get lists of all Limited Supply Item vendors.

3. The Grab and Bag Habit

Effective farmers get into the “Bag and Grab” habit early and benefit from it later. Getting into the habit of maximizing your available bag slots and grabbing everything but the most worthless trash is key from very early in the game.

This may sound basic, but players miss out on thousands of gold per day due to insufficient bag slots and being too selective with looting. Increasing your loot capacity, vendoring often and not being afraid to delete items in favor of more valuable ones (when your bags are full) is a simple but effective way of earning more gold.

4. Make A Mule

A Mule is a low level character that holds auctionable items and a bankroll (amount of gold) for playing the Auction House. Park your Mule outside the mailbox of a major city and have him do your Auction House work. The Mule allows you to quickly take advantage of good deals to be had on the Auction House, and simplifies the process of selling your auctionable items.

Be sure to give your mule a few coins to cover the cost of setting auctions, and before you know it that collection of greens and blues will become a pretty pile of gold. Then it’s time to start playing the Auction House for some serious profits (see the further reading below).

5. Gather Up Some Gold

Professions are great fun for any WoW gamer, but too often profession combinations are chosen that simply don’t yield a good income. Choosing a gathering profession (Mining, Herbalism or Skinning) guarantees you a supplementary source of gold while you’re questing, grinding or simply travelling about.

By far the best post-WotLK gathering profession is Mining which is enjoying a second “golden age” (I’m sorry – it had to be said) after the addition of some new veins and mining spots. Stack up some ore and get yourself to the Auction House – there’s good money to be made!

6. Seasonal and Promotional Items

Whether it the season to be jolly or just another Blizzard marketing campaign, these special items are worth acquiring and holding on to. WoW gamers are notoriously vain when it comes to dressing their characters in the latest, greatest and rarest trinkets they can get their hands on.

Grab a few of these items, wait a few months and then pay a visit to the Auction House. Those who have long since forgotten about your items, or who weren’t around to get them for themselves, will certainly be interested in providing you with a tidy profit.

7. Timing Is Almost Everything

This is by far the least known area of making WoW gold and yet by far the most profitable if done correctly. Timing your buying and selling activity with consideration to supply and demand is a skill much sought after in every aspect of real world business. Mastering this concept has and will continue to create the richest people on the planet.

It’s no surprise that knowing when to buy and when to sell can make you MASSIVE profits on World of Warcraft. You might be surprised to learn that various items and consumables can be purchased for 50% their regular value and be re-sold within 24 hours for 200% their value.
